OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.
The ordinary weekly meeting of tha Otago Football Association " was > held on Monday night, Mr M'Hutchon presiding.
CORRESPONDENCE. *
The Secretary of the 'Northern .-Club wrote (Stating that Mr J. C. Cameron had! resigned his position, as delegate, and that Mr H. J. Duncan lied been nominated.— Noted. The Town Olerk, St. Kilda, wrote stating that the account for water rate "could not be reconsidered s by the' council, and requesting an early settlement. — Secretary to report. The Secretary of the St. Kilda Cricket Club wrote asking when Culling Park would! be available for cricket. — To be informed that as a number of matches had yet to be Jilayed the executive was not in a position to supply -the information required.
THE PRESS.
Mr Jones made mention .of a paragraph" which had appeared in' the Otago Daily t Times on Monday week. It concerned the meeting which was to be held the same night. He thought it a pity that news should get into the papers- before it cam© to them.
Mr Sinclair explained that the press had> been represented at a former meeting whe» the subject had been dealt with.
Mr Orawley pointed out that they had* no control ove_r the presss* at all. It was not their place to say what* should get into , the papers, which, so long; as the matter was not of libellous nature, were at liberty to publish what they liked.
GENERAL.
A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Christian Brothers' Club, coupled with the names of the Revs. Brothers Brady and Moore for help enthusiastically rendered. Receipts for last Saturday's match *ncr« shown at over £53, and it was stated that the association would probably net over £3S as a result of the match.
The referee in the match vCity reported having cautioned a City, player for tripping- ai opponent. It was mentioned that the Vame plaj r er's nama already appeared twice- on th< caution list for misdemeanours. — Resolved that hf be suspended for 'three playing Saturdays. It was poimted out that Mr P. Braitlfwaite was present a.t the meeting vithoufe having secured a, proxy form from the City Club. — Mr Brsithw«ite was -cquested -o reifire.
Mr Gardner, reporting on the solicitor's opinion as to the position of the unseated chairman and the legality of tb& minutes, set forth that, Mr Adams had stated that, under the circumstanoas, the executive was not in a position to carry anything out, but he had suggested that they should take any important business contained in the minutes and get it confirmed.. After discussion, it was resolved, on tha motion of the Rev. Brother Brady, " That the meeting, as at present constituted, should proceed to legalise th< minute 3."
Mr Sinclair then moved— "That thU meetisg of the Otago Football Association executive, duly met and constituted, hereby, re-bransaoto and; confirms oil the bu6in«b« covered in the recorded minutes from September 30, 1907, to August 2, 19G9." Mr Sinclair said it was a great pity that those who had brought about this position should not at tho last meeting have taken some st>)ps to remedy the ttate of affairs. The motion was carried. "
A notice of motion was lodged — "That a resolution to the effect ' T i?.t the matter be allowed to drop,' passed in connection with <in alleged /x^ting- transaction, be rescinded, and, further, that the following motion be adopted : ' That this association! investigate the alleged betting transaction between a City player and a Kaitangata spectator.' " The matter will come up at the nexf mooting.
