BEES AND BEE LIFE.

The Ohoral Hall was well filled on the 12th, when Mr C. T. W. Wilson gave a very interesting talk, as he entitled it himself, about bees, modestly disclaiming the word " lecture." The address was well illustrated by some excellent limelight views and diagrams. The first part of the address dealt with bee life, and the audience learned many tilings in regard to workers, drones, anoS queensA Mr Wilson stated that the life of a worker was about six months, the life of a drone about four months, and the life of a queen bee anything over four years, although most beekeepers destroyed them after about two years. It was interesting to note that a quesn could lay from 2000 to 4000 eggs a day, this including worker eggs, drone eggs, and queen eggs, all of whioh -took a different time to hatch. A worker was simply an imperfectly-deve-loptd queen bee, and where a hive had no queen, workers had been known to lay fehe eggs, although a& a rule these wer« usually not up to the standard of a queen's eggs. Wnen a hive became full of cells it grow uncomfortable and hot, and some of the hees migrated, this accounting- for the "swarming" which goes on at certain tim«^a of the year. Mr Wilson went on in this style to the evident interest of his listeners, aud also dealt with beekeeping in an interesting- manner. A collection was taken up to defray expen?6.

A sore throat may be quickly cured by applying a flannel bandage dampened with Chamberlain's Pain Palm. A lame back, a pain in the sfde or chest, should be treated in a similar manner. Pain Balm is also famous for its cures of rheumatism. For sale everywhere.
