! PALMERSTON N., August 11. ' The Taranaki and Manawatu representatives met to-day, the former winning by 14 points to nil. The home team held the visitors in .check for ike whole, of the first spell, and .most of the second. The first score was obtained about 15 minutes be-fore the end of the game, Young securing the ball from a» scrum on the line and getting over. Soon afterwards Young scored again, the try being converted by J Stohr. In the last 10 minutes tries were scored •by J- Stohr and C. Sheefian, neither being converted.
