HAWKE'S BAY.
In connection with the recent stoppage of road works at Waimarama, a motion was carried at a- meeting of the Hawke's Bay Land Board — " That Government be urged to go on with the construction of the Wainiarama roads immediately." One member, Mr Eustace Lane, said the settlers were told in the theatre at Hastings that the roads had been provided for, and as a matter of fact the estimated cost of them had been added to the rents.
The large building in Priestly road erected by the France trustees, and occupied as a home for girls under the control of the Hawke's Bay Children's Home Commibteu, was formally opened on the 13th inst. by the Mayor of Napier (Mr J. Vigor Brown) in the presence of a large attendance of ladies and gentlemen.
