An Event Of Interest.

ALL SPEAK & PfiAISE ALIKE The Case of Mrs. M. THOMPSOrN.

(by a local reporter.) Hearing of an event which will probably interest every member of the community who reads it, a r-eporter went to Parkstreet, . Kensington, Dunedin, where Mrs. Mary Thompson lives, and asked that lady if it was a fact that she had lately effected a rapid recovery from a serious illness. " It is quite true," answered Mrs. Thompson, •* and the more I think of it the mora grateful I feel towards Clements Tonic for the good health it has brought me. Jusb after Christmas I had an attack of scarlet: fever, which left me in an awfully weak condition. My nerved seemed to have completely broken down, for I got excited at the least thing, and when anything occurred to give me a start, I could feel myself quivering all over. That was not the worst of it, however, for my mind waa generally uneasy as to what was. going to happen next, and the things I used to think about were never of a very cheerfu'. /iature-." " Probably your digestion was not at good as it might have been." " You are right there. It was far from being good, and that is where I thought th» real trouble used to lie. In the mornings I got up with a bitter taste in my mouth, and oh, how sick and feeble I felt ! ~~ I was thoroughly prostrated with weakness, and it would have been madness to have tried to do my housework. I had to got assistanoe, of course, and the mere fact of knowing that I was so helpless in my own household affairs wits the source of considerable worry to me. 9 How I longed to be able to eit down and eat a decent meal again, so that I might get a little stronger ! but at that time I do not suppose it would have mattered how much or how little, I ate, considering that I could digest nothing aft all." "How did you feel when you had taken. 6P*ne refreshment ?" 1 Very uncomfortable indeed, /specially • ; about the chest, which 'seemed to be overweighted so much that my .breath, did noto \ come freely, and the stomach was made uneasy wit)» gases that seemed to come from, the food. ' But the headaches I had wer» as bad as they cpuld be, and often and often I had attacks of giddiness, which' made me in constant dread of them coming- " on again, because I was so powerless undsU them. Palpitation of the heart served ma very badly, too, and my nervous fears always bore a more unwelcome ~ aspeot when that trouble seized me, for there is noknowing what such things may lead to. Ab least, that is the way I used to turn mattors over in my own mind ;' so you see that all these things helped to make me more and more depressed in spirits. A whitish coating came over my tongue, and it was. really extraordinary how dim my sight got at times, but the main anxiety of my existeuae was the everlasting evaporation of mv vitality. My sleep got very scanty, bull even if I slept all night, which very seldom happened, I felt equally tired next day, so that nothing seemed able to console or comfort mo." " Not even the medicines you wera taking," % No ! not even those to any extent. Sometimes I got a trirlng amount of ease from tiie doctor'B physic, but it did not last long o and then I was as bad as ever again. Theru was nothing like Clements Tonic for building n.e up and driving away tho3e feolingoof lassitude and depression which had hung like a cloud over my life. You «an imagine how greedily 1 took each dose of ClementsTonic when it became apparent that it was —unlike everything else I had tried— able to cure my nervousness, and was I not dalighted to find it giving me a splendid appetite as well ? A few bottles of Clement* Tonic made another woman of me altogether, for it restored my digestion and set. me free from headaches and all pains, and for regulating the system and restoring strength it was unquestionably . the best medicine I had ever taken. Its action upon my digestive organs was so sure tiiat there was nothing left undone, and in future if. will be my pleasure to recommend all sufferers to use Clements Tonic, and they wil* never regret doiag so." "The paper is the beat medium." - "Sol think, and you are at liberty t« publish my story in any way you desire." ' STATUTORY DECLARATION. I, Mart Thompson, of Park street. Kensington, Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, do solemnly and sincerely declare that I have carefully read th*« annexed document, oonsuting of two folios, and con. secutively numbered from ope to two, and that It contains and F« a true and faithful acconnt of my illness and cure by Clements Tonic, and *lio contain! r.iy full permissiop to publtih in amr way my state-ments-—which 1 jfirt voluntarily, without receiver -* tny payment . and I make this solemn declaration -conteientioutly believing the same to be true, and bit virtue- of. the proriajon«. of an Ack or the GeterS Anembly of New Ziiland, Intituled " The Juitioer el P«*ca Act, 1882." - Declared at Kensington, Dnnedia, this thirteenthday of March, one tbou»nd nine hundred and three.
