American Bowling Craze.

The American women have taken to alley bowling. Started about a year ago, when it was found that it went easily with the Directoire styles of dress, this pastime has increased in popularity till now there are clubs and tournaments in every middle-sized town. Bowling is one of the few games where a woman stands as good a chance as a man, and where, by using a little commonsense and moderation, she need have no fear of harm from violent exercise. Being one of the most fascinating of games, it is always the beginner who overdoes, especially should 6he make a fair score. Then she becomes so elated over her success that she will bowl on until ehe A £ tired out and all her muscles are overstrained and become lame from the unaccustomed exercise. Th© lameness, however, is only temporary, and ought to convince one that the muscles need just such exercise. But it is much better in learning to bowl not to play over two or three games, and never to play up to the point of real physical fatigue. In bowling, the best way to acquire a good delivery is to stand in a natural position, the left foot slightly advanced, with" the muscles relaxed, using your body, and limbs easily poised and without stiffening. In starting the run, begin with the fight foot, and take four steps, the fourth step being a little slide on the left foot. Women should be carefu' to keep the right foot far enough from the left to balance the body, for when the feet are close togetbei it is difficult to keep the equilibrium.
