Every farmer knows the necessity for rapid growth in the early stages of the tuinip plant, which is so subject to the " turnip- fly " and other pests. It is therefore necessary that a turnip fertiliser must be quick in its action on the young plant — but it must not stop here ; to do this would check further growth. As the root developes it requires the necessary food to keep it in healthy and vigorous growth, otherwise it will turn sickly, and the result will be only half a crop of immature roots, stringy and of inferior quality.
