Some time ago the Presbytery of Timaru decided to constitute a new charge, taking in Albury Cave. Ma Waro. Cannington, and Chamberlain. After hearing several candidates it was decided to give a call to the Rev. Peter Wilson, of Manaia, Taranaki. The ca J .l was accepted, and on Wednesday last the Presbytery met at Albury for his induction. There were present the Revs. Todd, Morrison. Stinson, Black, Dickey. M 'Donald, and King. Messrs Cleary, Shaw, Wright, Bishop, and Austin (elders). There was a fair attendance of the public. j The Rev. G. King, of Pleasant Point, preached, and Mr Wileon, having answered satisfactorily the questions put. was inducted to the pastoral charge of the congregation. Dr Black addressed the minister as to his duties, and Mr Todd addressed th& congregation on their mutual duties and relations. At the close of the service Mr Todd introduced Mr Wilson to the congregation, I and the right hand of fellowship was extended to the new minister as the congregation, passed out. In the evening a welcome social waa held, and th« Public Hall was •well filled, most of those present Tieing the youth of the district. It is a long time eince I have s.sen a more orderly lot of children at a social. Three long tables were loaded with eatables of a very tempting kind, and the ladies of Albury deserve thanks for the manner in which they pre. sided over the tea tables and for their kindness generally. After the tables had been cleared Rev. A. B. Todd mounted the stage ; and Rev. P. Wilson and Rev. Mr Morrison followed. Mr Todd took the ouair. ancS , after a brief address made way for the . Rev. Mr Wilson, remarking that he had j completed his work. All the ministers gave addresses of an interesting nature, and a pleasant even- ! ing was brought to a close b\ the singing iof the doxology. Before leaving this subj ject I ehould like to recall the fact that i th« initiative in this matter was .aken by ! Messrs Robertson and Little. The latter unfortunately did not live to see hi- labour crowned witl* «uece«*. Mr Robertson is entitled to the gratitude of the residents, and I trust that now t.heie , is a church and a setilfd minister in th< district the young people will «up- ' port it properly. Farm Work. — Farmers are busy getting in I whaat and preparing the ground ready for oats and gr^en feed. One i« looked upon a* lacking in knowledge if he ackim- ho has not 6o\vn .vheat this gea-on.
