LONDON, August 3. j Th 9 Spectator sharply criticises the decision of the Committee of Defence regarding the possibility of invasion. It says the fleet is not the nurse of the army By encouraging this belief Mr Haldane is encouraging the demand that the fleet should cuddle the British coasts in order to soothe the fears of old women of both sexes. The fleet mu^t go where the highest strategy demands. It might be compelled to leave the home waters, thus causing a temporary local loss of sea power and tempting an enemy to- make a dash for our shores.
