MARQUIS OF LINLITHGOW
LONDON, March 4. The King has authorised a memorial service for the Marquis of Linlithgow on Thursday in the Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace. March 6. The body of the late Marquis of Linlithgow was buried in the mausoleum at Hopetoun House. The funeral was very simple, this being the express wish of the deceased. The Revs. -Norman MacLeod and Wallace (minister of Aberdeen) conducted aHservioe in the ballroom. The chief mourners were Lady Linlithgow and her children. A general company of 500, including representatives of tlie Commonwealth and the Agents-general, attended the funeral. One hundred wreaths were laid on the late Marquis of Linlithgow's coffin, including these from the Commonwealth and the Agents-general. The King and Queen 6ent a message of sympathy to the Marchioness. A memorial service 'was held in the Chapel Royal, and was attended by the King and the Prince of Wales. Sir H. Campball-Bannerman and Mr Balfour w«re represented. Those present included .Lord Lansdowne, Lord Elgin, Lord •Roberts, Lord Carrington, and a number of leading Australians.
