Eight English tourists have written ft the press, complaining of their inabilitj to procure anything to drink on a journey between Auckland and Wellington but tea and coffee, very doubtful sf-ale rain water, and mineral waters, made locally from doubtful water and syrups, no liquor, wine, or beer of any sort being obtainable on the railway and in many hotels. The writers allege that the discomforts they experienced! in this wav will ha^o a detrimental effect on the tourist traffic.
