PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Portobell« Road Board was held on February 27, all •the members being present. Tho Works Committee reported that all the works under th« Government grants were progressing satisfactorily. Only on-e applioant has offered for the position of inspector of works. Mr S. Hinkley was appointed. Messrs Bsvthgate and Woodhouse advised the board in the matter of motor cars running on t?h« Anderson's B«y bridge and Bea-oh road. — A lengthy discussion took place, ajid it was resolved that the by-law be strictly enforced. It was decided that all labouring men get 78 per day for last month, leaving th« matter open so that the rate of wages can be arranged at next meeting. The Valuation Department wrote asking th« board to appoint a representative of the board to sit on the Assessment Court, to be held at Dunedin next month. — The clerk (Mx S. Hinkley) was appointed to attend tho meeting. The Charitable Aid Board forwarded the names of those in receipt of charitable aid. — Received.
