INVERCARGILL D.L F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
Motto : " Excelsior." The usual weekly meeting of the above club was held in the South British Chambers. Esk street, on the evening of Wednesday, March 4. Shasta presided, and there were present of the committee Luceda, Pakeha, Eewa, Bolivar, floma, and Lord Wolseley. As this was the firt meeting of the month, it -was open meeting, and Smoking Flax gave a paper on "Can a Man Get Rich Honestly?" (affirmative). Shasta read her interclub debate paper, which was much appreciated; and Midgie read some recitations, one of which caused much amusement. In connection with the picnic, it was arranged that the members meet at 'the South School at 2 o'clock next Wednesday (11th inst.). Shasta read a letter from Mr Fairweather in reference xo the paddock. Smoking Flax then proposed that the secre- i tary be instructed to write to Dot for a com- j plete list of Invercargill D L.F , so the members can look them up and bring them to the club All the members read something out of Blondel's book, and the meeting closed at 9.°5 LORD WOLSELEY.
