OAMARU FLOWER SHOW.

(Fhom Ouh, Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, March 5. The North Otago Horticultural Society's chow took place to-day, the weather having cleared sufficiently to make the day a , pleasant one. The rain of the week had done some damage to some of the outdoor flowers, and several competitors did not come forward in the section in which they had entered. Though hardly such an extensive show as that of last year, and though some flowers showed signs of the effects of the weather, the exhibition generally was an excellent , one, and it attracted a large atten- i dance in the afternoon and evening, i The principal feature of the show was the sweet pea bowl competition, in which Mrs W. Milne, Ardgowan, was successful. The

i Oamaru Mail Cup, for most points in all - classes at the summer and autumn shows, ■ was easily won by Mt James Mitchety. • The trophy for the most points in fruit ■ went to Mr W. S. Patterson, and that for * vegetables to Mr James Wilson. Ihe Cot- > tage Garden Cup presented by Dr Douglas : was won by Mr C. Sutton, with Messrs J. Pryor and J. Giant second and third. The ' competition was a highly interesting one, ; there being 17 entries, but the six judges ' rhowed unanimity about , their award, though there were only 14 points between the first fiv«.
