Can You Answer This?— Messrs H. Morrit and J. Jarvis, Orepuki, played a game whici( was won by Mr Morris with the black men, though a man down. His opponent said White should have won but for a mistake he made. This led to some analysis and more discussion, but without making their opinions harmonise, each side still claiming a win. Mr Jarvis refers it to our readers:—Black (Morris): 1, Q, 3, 7, 15, 18, 19. White (Jarvis): 13, 17, 21,- 27, 28, 30, 31, king 4. White to play; what result? Mr A. Jordan, London, entered for th« Scottish draughts championship, but sent » telegram withdrawing from the competition before the ballot was made. In these cir«~ cumstances the committee- refunded the entrjf money.
