MOUNT IDA LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The usual quarterly meeting of the above committee was held at Naseby on Friday, 6th inst., the following members of committee being present: — Messrs J. M'Ennis, S.M. (chairman). R. F Inder, J. Mitchell, and D. C. Stewart. TRANSFERS. The following applications for transfers were granted: — Hugh Browne to A. Grant, Ballarat Hotel, St. Bathans (Mr M'Neil); James Pringle to J. B. Crowley, Duntroon Hotel (Mr M'Neil); Official Assignee in Bankruptcy of estate of J. F. Frewen to James M'Guckin, Commercial Hotel, Ornakau (Mr Kirk) ; Official Assignee in Bankrup'y in estate of W. C. Pitches to Andrew E. Pitches, Shamrock Hotel, Ophir (Mr J£irk). In the last-mentioned ca?e it was — lpossible to advertise the notice of application within the statutory time, and Mr Kirk applied for, and was granted, a certificate waiving the short notice by advertisement, the application having been advertised before the meeting. In the case of the Livingstone Hotel (Mr M'Neil), permission to carry on was granted. John Richards (Mr Irwin) to Henry Drake (Mr Hay), Jockey Club ilotel. Omakau — On this case being called Mr Irwin intimatec' that Richards did not apply to transfer the license, and stated that a writ cmiming £1200 damages had been issued against Mx Samson in respect of the loss tccasioned Richards through having been ejected from the hotel. — Mr Hay submitted that the application must be dealt with by the committee, and after legal argument the committee decided to grant the application for transfer.
