POSITION OF POLICE. (Fbom Oub Own Cobeespondent.) WELLINGTON, March 5. It is probable that the police ballot regarding the Public Service Superannuation scheme will not be taken till after next session of Parliament owing to the necessity of making certain necessary amendments in the apt. The Wellington members of the Police Force have obtained a Uteftl opinion from Messrs C. P. Skerrett, JvTC., and A. Gray on the question as to whether, in the event of the police electing to come under the act, they would be treated as " contributors " "or " original contributors." Toe opinion is to the effect Wai the contributpre to the Police Provjtfeipt Fund -would run - a serious risk if they Joined the Publio Service Superannuation Fund upjjn the assumption that they jpere entitled to the same benefits from the ZUpd as original contributors under the sjot.
