RESIGNS TION OF CAPTAIN j ENGLAND. ! CHRISTCHURCH, March 9. On being seen by a Press reporter ihis afternoon, Captain England made the following statement: — ; You may announce my resignation as commander of the Nimrod on the grounds of ill-health. I shall remain in charge until the ship is passed over to the agents here. My future movements are very uncertain, but I shall probably remain here for a considerable time. It is improbable that the Nimrod will bo despatched on magnetic survey work, as was originally intended, nor Will she visit Sydney and Melbourne as was expected. It is practically certa'n rhat she will remain in Lyttelton until ehe leaves for the Antarctic regions to pick up the shore parly in December next.
