NEW ZEALAND BOWLING ASSOCIATION.
A epeoial meeting of the council of the New Zealand Bowling Association was heldl on the 25th, there being present Messrs W* Waddell (president), J. Brown, F. Smith. O. Grey, J. M. Gallaway. W. Austin, W. Dall. and W: Allan. An apology for absence waa received from Mr A. E. Smith, of Invercargill. ' The New South Wales Bowling Aesooiation wrote as follows:— 4 As there is likely to be a representative gathering of bowlers from most of the States and New Zealand congregated in our city at Easter, my president and Tice-presidenfc think it will be n. favourable opportunity of bringing the rules of all the associations into 1 line, and with that object in vi«w request that you should nominate one repreeentativs ! to help in this good purpose. Ws think it would be of no us« appointing a representative unless his authority is binding to agree or disagree for his association, and to sign on their behalf without further reference to head-quarters, as all previous efforts have been frustrated through this course. If you fall in with this view will you kindly authorise one gentleman ~to act on behalf of your association, ana the writer will consent to j act as hon. secretary to the committee if so desired. It was resolved that the president of the New Zealand Bowling Association (Mr W\ Waddell) be appointed representative of the association at the conference of bowlera to be held ;n; n Sydney at Easter, but the council regretted that the constitution of the association did not permit tbe delegation of its authority to any of its members, and therefore the president was authorised to support "•any recommendation of which he might approve, and the council pledged itself to give full consideration to any recommendation which might be agreed to by a majority of the delegates. A Christchurch bowler wrote applying fon a refund of entranoe money paid in connection with the Singles at the tournament; held in Christohurch in 1907 on the ground! that he had met with a bicycle accident, and had been unable to compete.— Mone» to be refunded. . .. Permission was granted the Unrustonuroit Centre to hold a local tournament at Easter — riuks and doubles. — Mr Brown, who introduced the matter, stated that there had been some talk of making the tournament open, bivt as it would look like, clashing; with the Oamaru tournament the idea. Had* beej* abandoned. It was resolved that the next tournament; be held in Christohurch. It was also resolved that the secretary obtain and register a list of members of council, with addresses ; a list of clubs in each centre, together with the number of members and colours ; a list of office-bearera of all centres ; and copies of constitution ofi all centres. The Treasurer (Mr F. Sbnith) read ft statement of the finances of the association^ which showed that at the present time them was on fixed deposit £140, and an overdraft of £61 16s 3d, which left a net balance to) credit of £78 3s 9d. In addition to thie sum there was the £50 advanced to th? Dunedin Centre for tournament purposes.
Ask any mother in this community wSBf has used Chamberlain's Cough Remeds what she thinks of it. She will tell yoB that she depends upon it for cougßs, coldit croup, hoarseness, and that by giving jf to the children at the very first symptom of these complaints they are never allowed to get a foothold in the house.
