Ths weather was beautifully fine, but the attendance was not tip to expectations. The feature of the day was the success of the N«w Zealanders, who finished up with five championships to their credit* New South Wales secured four and -ha' f, Victoria one and a-half, and Tasmania ani Queensland one each. The defeat of Barker in the 880 Yards and of Davis in the 440 Yards Hurdle came as a great surprise, but the victory, of the Maorilanders was applauded to ths echo, the winners being greeted with their native cry from many New Zealandew present. Davis appeared to have the race for t-h'* Hurdles won., but he lost his stride when approaching 'the last hurdle, this causing him to falter, which gave Murray, hi* chance, and he availed himself o( it.
