DIOCESAN SUNDAY SCHOOLS TEACHERS' UNION.
\ The annual «nd quarterly combined meeting of the above was held to St. Paul's Schoolroom on the -3rd. The meeting was fairly well attended. Rev. W. Bonaldson ,ajceupied the ohair. The annual report stated, inter alia: — The union ds, we h«ve reason to -believe,going •Slowly ahead, three .schools fetcving joined this year — vie., Lawrence, Naaeby, and Bavensbonrne. W« are sorry to state that the North-Baat Valley School .has decided not to belong to the union for 1808, but . we trust will join us again before long. Mosgiel has promised to join for 1908. The examinations were held in November. Your j committee was again fortunate in securing the services of Mr Statham as examiner, to | whom we tender our very heartiest thanks. ! Two hundred and twenty-six children, comDrising eleven schools, competed, c£ whom 56 obtained first-class and 66 obtained secondclass certificates. Forty-three passed" and 61 failed. The following motions were adopted : — (1) " That all quarterly meetings. with the exception of the annual meeting and the teachers' social, be held in the different *• schoolrooms affiliated to the union, as the . committee thinks best." (2) "That thesecretarv write to the Primate, asking him to preside at" the next annual meeting, and - «lso to vicars of parishes, irrgißg them to bring: "the claims of the union most emphattfcallv before the Sunday school tearf»ers." In 1905-6 the income derived from the taxation of motor cars was £100.000.
