ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

The monthly -meeting of the council of ihe Otago Acclimatisation Society l was held on February 27 in the secretary's office, Imperial Buildings; present— Messrs R-'ChishoinT (president), J.~ % Sinclair Thom\ son, T. Brown, C. P. M. Butterworth, R. Forrest, D. Barren, and Dr de Lautour. Apologies for non-attendance were received from "Messrs Farquhar and Rutherfoi>d. \ Leave of absence was granted to Mr Brown,- who is about to visit America and Britain. Mr -J. Steven (manager of the Clinton hfctcheries) reported :— " The greater 'part of the past month has been taken up in cleaning out and repairing ponds and raoes. • I am pleased to report that this work has been completed, although- I regret to say that in the case of repairs to leaking ponds, over which « great deal of time and labour have been spent, the results are not altogether satisfactory. Borne progress has been made with the work of concreting the rainbow pond. The floor of the pond has been laid down mnd a start made with the casing for the sides. The carpentry work in connection with the srection of new outbuildings will be oomgleted in the coarse of a day or two," — The report was approved. It was resolved to forward, through the Inspector of Police, £1 Is apiece to Constables M'Sepzie <owaka). Dawson (lapanni). and Tracy (Clinton) for obtaining convictions for breaches of the Fisheries Act
