AUCKLAND, 27. The question of running *a Maori new*paper caused a good deal of discussion at' the sittings of the Te Aute Association Conference. One speaker pointed out that European newspapers could not reach thef mass of the Maori population, and that ifi was necessary to have a paper which would combine interest with utility. ManJJ speakers spoke approvingly of the plant, but it wa* generaly agreed that the exid^ log Maori paper, the Pipiwharauro*^ which was tinder the control of the awooia,: tion, should be taken in hand, enlarged^ and filled with subjects that would be ot general interest to all the Maori people>The Bey.
