Count Metternich, German Ambassadw? in London, speaking as the guest of the London Chamber of Commerce, said theio was no skeleton in the cupboard standing between Britain and Germany. Good' relations were a stronger protection than, armies and fleets. Germany's policy and* efforts were directed towards united! action on the part of the Powers to secure useful leforms and to stop the nwssacrea in Macedonia. It was an utter fabrica-l tion to say that Germany had instigated^ Austria-Hungary to build the Xovi Bizar railway. Austria was the best judge cl her own economic interests.
