BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES.
The ordinary weekly meeting of the Benevolent Trustees, held on Feb. 26, was attended by Messrs W. Burnett (in the chair), j A. Tapper, A. H. Biidger, J. ML Gailaway, and W. E. S. Knight. | The Chairman stated th»t one consumptive ' pa-ta-ent had teen admitted, but, being a j person of property, had left. Mr Gallaway i said they -shouldi leave the question of con- ' eumptives out of consideration altogether. ! The- alterations as per- plan should be pro- j ceeded with, at once. On his motion the tender of Messrs J. and E. Scott, at £395. less £4JD, for. the neceaea/ry repairs and alterations to the institution, was accepted. . | Mr Galloway was of opinion that charitable aid should be distributed " to-day," and that the Charitable Aid Board be notified. j Mr Tapper pointed out that applicants re- , commended, by local bodies had received re- . lief, when under the circumstances they would have received short shrift had they , been Dunedin residents. ! Mr G-allaway: All -we oare about is to see charitable aid distributed without any hitch. Out dignity has not suffered' by the decision of the court. It. is merely the law, and we must abide by it. , J Twenty-one cases of relief were dealt with. I
