POLITICAL LABOUR LEAGUE.

The usual monthly meeting of the league was held on February 26 at the Trades Hall, Mr J. W. Munro (president) in the chair.

The Secretary of the Tinsmiths' Union wrote advising that the union had decided to affiliate with the league. A resolution was received from the Invercargill branch of the league asking for Dunedin's endorsement as follows: — "That this branch of the league emphatically condemn the action of the Union Steam Ship Company in increasing passenger fares under the unjustifiable plea of the increased cost of coal, and, taking into account the hu^e profits made year after year and the exorbitant rates levied on the people to maintain these profits, also the tactics employed to kill competition, urge that the time is now opportune for State compftition with the Huddart-Parker and Union Steam Ship Companies in order to protect the people from exploitation by these concerns." — Phis was carried unanimously.

A crop of Dun oats at the Lincoln Agricultural College, which has just been threshed, gave a return of 72 bushels per acre. A paddock of Bordier wheat gave a return of 51 bushels per acre, the grain being of exceptionally good quality.
