SALE OF CROWN LAND?.

On February 28, at tne Crown Lands office, five pastoral rune in the Ot*go district! were offered at auction before * large number of people, the Land Board room being crowded. Mr W. E. Sessions acted as' auctioneer. Two of the rune were sold *t th« - upsets, but for the other throe there was very keen and spirited oonrpetition. The following are the particulars: — Section 1, block VI, and sections 2, 3, and 8, block X, Swinburn district, containing 4968 «orefl, were offered for 21 ye arts at an annual upset Tentuf of £80, and were finally knocked down to Mr James Freelan-d at mi annual rental of £132. Sections 27 to 30, blopk I, Glenorchy district, and section 39; block I, Upper Wakatipu district, containing 220 acres, went offered for a term of seven years »t an upset annual rental of £1, at which figure Mr John Archibald Stephens became the lessee. Run 14^ Waitaki County, containing 7000 acres, was offered for 21 years at an annual upset rental of £100, and was knocked dowif at £370 to Mrs Jane M'Lennan. Run '466, Lake County, containing 2320 acres, waa offered for 14 years at an annual upset rental of £25, at which price it was sold to Mr F« D. Thomson. Runs 95a and 99a (grouped), containing '49,6oo acres, were offered for 14 years at an annual rental of £10, and were disposed of to Mr Alfred Spain at an annual rental of £101.
