WEST COAST WHISPERS.
I don't know what Dot and my comrades have thought of me, but I have often thought of them lately, and hope to be forgiven for my long delay. Dot, I hope, will torgive me when she knows the true account of my long silence. I trust one and all had a very enjoyable Christmas, and are entering upon the new year with light hearts and ambitious thoughts. I have heard, during my weeks of silence, that Scribbler and Paparoa have returned from the south, bringing with them the merry southern comrade, Rogue 11. I trust you had a very pleasant time, chum. "Any good, ' Rogue, may I ask? The latest craze on the Coast now is picnics. One could go to a picnic every day of the week lately. But no D.L.F. picnic! Ah«,ure comrades, where have you all got to? That Mountain Rambler, Nuggety Bob, Bush Boy, and A Silent Member enjoyed the Dunollie sports very much. How would you like to be in a prohibition country, Sr. b.? Dot's band has won many honours during its existence, and even possesses a V.C. on the West Coast. But, oh, where, tell me, where has this V.C. gone to? And still more to follow. Our renowned comrade, Bush Boy, who is fast practising for the championship of the world iv wrestling, etc., is developing himself into a modern Sandow. Samson will be a fool to you in strength yet, Bush Boy. Keep on smiling, chum: you will win some day. The heart is young, B. "B. That a crowd of D.L.F. seemed to be enjoying the circus very much in Ahaura lately. Bramble actually expressed a wish to ride the famous buck-jumper. Do you think you would have lived to tell the tale, comrade? That the Kumar a sports were dead slow, so Mountain Rambler declares. Was the •time weary, or you, chum? Or did you possess "that tired feeling"? How did you enjoy them, Lavender and Biddy O'Toole? We are all pleased' to see our chum, Dolly Gray, back in Ahaura again. A hearty welcome to you, Dolly. May you enjoy your holiday to it» utmost. That Mountain Rambler now sings the catchy song, "We parted on the shore." Where did you part, comrade? Was it on the shore at Moana, all on a wild wet morning? That our Silent Member was more silent than ever at Christmas. We all hope you are better now, chum, and enjoying the freedom of a "free arm." . How did you enjoy your trip, Valeric, down in Dunedin at Christmas? M. I. C. n.. hopes you had a good time. That the word "Wild"" has a pleasing effect on Mountain Rambler. "Wild bush, ■wild country, wild deer." Eh, M.R.? . That Paparoa and Rogue enjoyed their little tour round the Coast before the latter left for Southland. They actually listened to a few records on a gramaphone their last evening in Greymoutb. Did it remind you of Oamaru, chums? . . That MICK, was overwhelmed with, joy to see once more the reappearance of our mucb-liked Quago, The Cniel, and T. I. C. won't feel so lonely now, chums. That little "^Birdie has been away from her home for over three weeks now, enjoying the luxuries of picnics, eic, with her young ifriends in Ahaura and Greymouth. No more this time. Silently I glide away to reappear with Quego and The Chiel at toe next secret meeting. My kindest regards *o all. M - L C - K>
