ALLEGED INCENDIARISM
MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION. ATTEMPTED FIRE RAISIKG AT RANGIORA. CHRISTCHUROH, February 19. A man. was arrested in the bar of the C&fede Paris Hotel this morning on suspicion of having deliberately oaueed the fire which was diecovered at the rear of thd hotel last week. An attempt at fire raising at Ranjjfiora on Monday night was planned and carried out in an elaborate way, and it was little short of a miracle that it resulted in failure. It was in a email outbuilding against a wall of the Co-operative Store*' Company's storeroom that the incendiarycarried out his operations. The wall of the: building was saturated with kerosene from. floor to roof, and in some paper, &!a& covered with, kerosene, against the wall £ bottle holding a piece of candle had beeatt placed.
