If sweet oil is no* a* nan<S linseed or any otihet veg«t«ible oil will do. It is well to have ready for application to burtw of not very targe exteni &n ointment compounded as follows: Ichthyoi odnft* ment, one ounce ; carbolised petrolatum, en© ounce ; zino ointment, one otmce ; $ufrnitrats of bismuth, one <d!rachni; powxfereJ opium, one dnaeiim. Tsbb ointment may ■be applied freely and w-i be found to give earnest immediate relief. ■ftf a burned hand or foot » plunged »C once into- * -basin of water into -which a. few spoonfuls of powdered ebHpeta* are placed, the pain often ceases at once. If lit returns, adding- fresh ©00l water and more saltpetre will ogam atop it- Follow this with one of the preparations mentioned, and you will be doing a great deal for the comfort of 'file patient. If *h> jja*i«nt is much Shocked by the bum, give a teaapoonful of aromatic spirits, of ammonia in some cool water and *.pplv to points not burned' hot water bags- Do this eapeoially where there is chilliness, and send for. your physician at once. — Good Housekeeping.
