NAPIERy February 19. The Hawke's Bay Highland Society's annual Caledonian sporta were held on the Recreation Ground to-day. The attendance was a record. C. Odhno (22j<Js) the Quarter-mils 'in ffLaoc, W. G-. Harding (90yds) the Half-mile in lmin 57 l-saec, P. Eddy (40yds)- won the Lap Dash Bicycle Handicap.- F. Wells (15yds) the One-mile. Bicycle Handicap in 2min 12 l-ssec, R. J. Jonea the Mile Bicycle Championship in N2miri 13 l-ssec. • The Two-mile Bicycle Handicap' WA9 won by R. J. Jones, in 4min 43sec, C. M'Cartney, C. C. Mac Donald, and M. A. ' M'Leod divided the principal prizes in b«glv7pipe nmeic, and' C_ Smith gained the first ' piizo for Highland dancing. In. the Catch-as-catch-^ean wrestling competition, ,on« of the competitors (J. Howell) sustained a severe concussion of the spine and neck, and was removed to tie hospital, where he is at present lying -.in a serious condition. .■ At thel hospital he- was found to be sufiering from' an. injury to the spine, But there is no immediate danger of any serious outcome.
