SUPPLY OF LABOUR.
CHIEF INSPECTOR'S STATEMENT.
INVERCARGILIi, February 21.
Mr Lomas, Chief Inspector of Factories, who is just now in town, was interviewed by a Southland Times reporter to-day. Mr Lomas is satisfied of the prosperity of trade throughout. New Zealand, but the progress of many industries is being hampered <by Jack of hands. . There are enough skilled artisans, but quite the reverse with, regard to all kinds of unskilled labour.
James Hooper , (47), who was fined at Bristol at Christmas for being drunk and disorderly, was similarly charged about the same time last year- and "the year before. He said it was because he was employed at the coldest shop in Bristol. . He was engaged in helping to cell frozen meat, and he took the drink to try to keep himself warm.
