AUCKLAND, February 24. The southern, and district delegates t« i the Maori Conference, which is to be held \at Orakei, were welcomed by the Orakei Natives this afternoon. Some SO delegate* are present, and -.another party under the Rev. Mr Bennett, of Rotorua, will arriv» at Orakei to-morrow. * Mr J. Thornton, president of the Te Aute Association, is presiding. Since the association was organised 'it has received much help from thd Government^ 'Natiy< school teachers and others engaged; in Maori work.
