HOSPITAL TRUSTEES

A meeting of the Hospital Trustees was hold on the 18th inst., when there were present — Messrs S. Solomon (chairman), John Mill, M. Stevenson, J. Brown, H. A. lieCren, A, Tapper, T. Mackenzie, M.P., and Dr Beitchelor. KBPOBTS. The House Committee reported .that a conference was held between the House., Committee and a committee of the Hospital Board with reference to the supply of nurses when occasion required it. A scheme was proposed, a.nd.it was decided to give it a trial, whereby the Hospital should aup'ply, the nurses for the Hospital Board oases, and that the nurses should be paid by the trustees, the amotmt to be recovered from the Hospital Board. The committee m.leo reported that it had agreed to have an additional wire connection with the Central .Telephone Exchange.— The report was adopted. It was decided that the House Committee make full inquiry into the complaints ventilated through the correspondence columns of the press in regard to the duties of nurses at the* Dunedin Hospital. The Hospital matron, Miss Fraser, reported that, from the list of candidates for vacancies in the Hospital aa. probationers, those who had waited longest were Misses Naismith, M'Lean, Miller, Cameron, and Coojnbs, and she recommended, that the ■ appointments should be made accordingly. Incidentally, the matron reported that she ijoped*to introduce the eight hours' system early in March.— The recommendation of the matron in regard to the appointment jof nurses was- adopted. NOTICES OF MOTION. In accordance with notice of motion, Dr Batchelor moved— "That the Dominion Wexd be named the Maunsell Ward."
