February 19. — The usual monthly meeting >f the County Council was held on Saturfiay, when there was a full muster of councillors. The secretary Marlborough School Commissioners wrote stating th*t the board wae willing to grant a lease of section 96 for 42 years from the expiration of the present lease at a ground rent of £5 annually. «nd 10 per cent, of all rents or charges Dbtaiped. from the section if used as a gleans of obtaining revenue. On the motion of Or Renner it wa,s decided to write to the board thanking Item, and informing tliem that th& council had no intention of buying the section. Or Runner eaid he understood the Minister of Education had practically agreed to an exchange of the section. The Chairman (Cr Boyd) said this was so. and th«> clerk was instructed to writ* to- the Hon. After considerable discussion It was resolved that Mr Rounthwaite be asked to visit Kaikoura and furnish a report, without -any obligation on the part of the council, to employ him to carry out the undertakirg or be liable for any ocmmissioH. Routine business was transacted, and a. number of tendeis dealt Tith.
