SCHOOL CAPETS' CAMP.
AUCKLAND. February 19.
The Education Board approved of a week's encampment at Papakura for the three Auckland battalions of the Public School Cadets. They have instructed the head masters to facilitate the movement. Each Cadet contributes 3s 6d and the Government a similar amount towards the cost of rations, bedding, etc. Attendance in the camp will be counted as attendance in «chool.
Speaking in regard to the frequency of fires in the Ashburton river-bed, a Wakanui farmer stated^ to a representative of the Ashburton Mail that the outbreaks of late had been caused by shooters, who set fire to the R-orse and broom to scare out tho rabbits.
