EGG-LAYING COMPETITIONS.
CHRISTCHURCH, February 18. Tho returns of (lie duck egg-laying competition to the 15th inst. are: — Knight, 23; Williams. 9; Ruhen, 9; Spiers, 6; Cuff, 20 ; Smithers, 'I ; Kitching, 9 ; Kearns, 6 ; Lucy, 16; Gage. 4; Dowthwaile, 22; Hahn, 6: Woodward, 12 r Gibbons, 10; Scott, 20; Penberthy, 21; West, 25; Knight, 9; Savage, 8; Butler. 4. The best for the week are:— West, Knight, and Dowthwaite. The besr totals to date are:— Dowthwaite, 930; Knight, 894; Penberthy, 882.February 24-. The number of eggs laid last- week in connection with the Utility Poultry Club's competition at Lincoln College was 628. making a total of 40,541 to date. The best j layings were : — A. W. V. Clarke (Silver Wyandottes), 28; "W. A. Nixoj) (iviiitp Leghorns), 25 ; Allan Potric (white Leghorns), 25; F. G Brittain (white Leghorns), 23; G. Robinson (white Leghorns), 23. The highest totals to date are:^ — Allan Petrie (white Leghorns), 1153; J. Tonge (white Leghorns), 1085; Miss Rita Nixon (white Leghorns), 1074; W. O. Sail (viitc Leghorns). 1046; F G. Brittain (white Leghorna), 1042; W. Forest (black Orpingtons), 1009., BLENHEIM, February 21. In the Blenheim egg-laying competition the total for the week was 1699, and the grand total 78,304. The highest pens for the week are: — M'Callum (white Leghorns), 29; Rex Dodson (white Leghorns), 29. 'The hgihest to date are: Law (white Leghorns), 1Q80; Triechart (white Leghorns), 1056; Edelsten (white Leghorns), 1044; Hawke (white Leghorns), 1043;- Scott (white Leghorns!, 1040.
