H. B. Eglinton for a Romney ram. For four stud Romnejs Mr Riddiford secured the handsome return of £165. The <op pi ice in stud Lincolns was 37^gs. Only a few Southdowns were offered, 15gs bein^ the top price. Of 14 Shropshire studs submitted onlj fh c were cold, tho prices langing from 3gs to sigs. It was apparent a1 the outset that the drought would be responsible for canny purchasing, and unless tho sheep weie in tip-top condition they w ere not looked at by buyers. Poor ewes wero to be seen in the stud sheep pens, which caused comment to the effect that a higher fee should bo charged for studs to pre\ent the entering of infeiior oheep. Vendors willingly pay the fee of 2s 6d for the sake of luuing their sheep submitted at midday.

At the Masterton ram fair to-day ~the top price realised for stud sheep was 60 guineas for a Romnex tani.
