INCREASE IN PRICE
WESTPORT, February 12. The Westport Coal Company ha 6 notified its Westport customers of an increase m the price of coal on and after March 1 — viz. : Screened coal, from 17s to 18s per ton; unscreened coal, from 13s to 14s; 6mall coal, from ICte to 19s 6d. Mr Dixon (district manager) informed the Press Association agent that the advance was due to the altered conditions of working- at the mines increaeing the cost of production. E\er since the Ministerial visit to tin Denniston colliery operations have proceeded with pleasurable 6moothnoss. The output is being splendidly maintained, and the relations between the management and" employees leave nothing to be desired. NO INCREASE IN DUNEDIN. Mr G. Joachim (general manager of the Westport Coal Company) informed one of our reporters yesterday that there is no intention of increasing the price of Westport coal co far as Dunedin is concerned, and that the advarce in prices i 6 purely local.
