DEATH OF AN OLD IDENTITY.
WELLINGTON. February 17. Mr Frederick Cooper, seedsman ami nui-beryma-n. died last night at his residence." Lower Ilutt. asr&d 67 years. Mr Cooper arrhed in Wellington with his parents in 1842 When the gold ru«h broka out in Otago he went «outh to try his fortune there, and he ateo spent some time on the Ballarat {roldfields. On his return to New Zealand he settled down in Wellington, marryinor the only daughter ot Mr Robert Holti" carpenter, of this city. He established a business ac a seedsman and nurseryman in thie city about 4ft years ago.
Francis Porter, a labourer, was charged a few weeks ago at Hull with the man; slaughter of his daughter Emily, aged 1*« It was stated that he threw a kettle ol boiling water at his wife, but she evaded it, and the contents fell on his daughter, who died from scalds.
