THE DANYSZ RABBIT VIRUS

♦ PROHIBITION RECOMMENDED. SYDNEY, February 17. The conference of representatives of the Commonwealth and the various States appointed to report whether the Danysz rabbit microbe was similar to the microbe found on the Australian mainland, and whether it as advisable to continue the experiments on the mainland with the Da.nysz microbe, reports that the two microbes are specifically identical. The conference findis that under natural conditions the virus doeis not injuriously affect animal's other than rabbits ; therefore, while there is no reason to apprehend injury to animal life in general nor to expect any effective destruction of rabbits by the virus, it recommends that the prohibition against the importation of the Danysz microbe be maintained.
