THE VOICE OF GOD
His voice is ag the pealing organ heard
From leagues of sable pine, When Tbfty woods are by the tempest stirred, And ocean rolls a line Of yeasty sea beneath the rocky land, Majestic, solemn, slow. And flooded glens give answer, deep and grand. To the lashed sea below. Or hker far to the soft whisper, when The soft wind -steals from the unbounded &63 And myriad birdies flood the bushy glen With" sylvan melody, ■Where meaths of cloud about the spiring steep. Linger as loth to leave the loveliness Of sheeny c opes and the -unbounded deep, Where Love- doth blood and bless "With, subtleties of fragrance, light and
sound, Herbage and foliage mixed, Sheer spurs, with massive forest, rnonarebs
crowed, And echoing glens betwix J : Ferns would enrich the vale of Eden; vines Binding with beauty many a swarthy stem, Soft rustling from the overshadowing pines; And by the streamlet's huir Tfce toi-tois' silver plumes; while stealing by A fragrance from the cottage hearth is borne O Love, ire hope tor immortality, This beauteous summer morn. —Charles Oscar Pjlliceb.
