A ROAD DISPUTF.
NAPIER, Febiuary 5. A Commission of Inquiry was held to-da^ before Mr W. S. Short, solicitor for th« Roads Department, as to question oj* road maintenance, the road in question being the Eskdale-Pohui road, at preseni maintained by the Hawke's Bay County Council. It was argued for that body that as a portion of the road w«« within tlw Wairoa County — the valuation of the pro. pertv in that county to which the rpa«,l ga\e access, and on whioh the Wairo** County Council received the rates, beinn £241.060, as against a valuation of £136,21* of the property in Hawke's Bay County- ■• tho Wairoa County Council should beai 1 half the cost of maintainonoo. After_ evidence had been given, the Commissioned anounced that his decision would be foi» warded in due course.
