DUNEDIN CITY MISSION.
The monthly meeting of the committeß was held in the board room of the Bible Depot, when there were present Messrs G< Reid (acting chairman), G. M. Thomson^ John Barnes, E. Rosevear (hon. treasurer),' John Blair, S. C. Phillips, J. H. Wilkinson^ E. Aslin, and D. Wright.
The Hon. Treasurer reported a 6atisfac« tory balance sheet, and the following dona« tions : — A lady helper, £2; a, friend, ss;{ member of committee, £1 ; another xnexabert of committee, £1 ; Albany Street Sundays service, 13s sd ; Auckland, £1 ; a helper, of the mission, £7 7s ; a lady, 5e j Good Sama* ritan Fund, J.W.S., Bs.
Through the spontaneoues generosity oJI helpers and friends of the City Mission thrf 1 missionary had been able about Christmas time to dispense creature comforts, etc, to/ deserving cases without needing to appeal to the public. As in years past, he again reported that persons and families needing material aid, both of a temporary and\ permanent character, were well looked aftei by private individuals, by congregational agencies, by the Benevolent Institution, andi the old-age pensions scheme of "the Stated A hopeful 6tart for this year was made laslii Sunday, and there were many helpers to£ strengthen their handa. The arrangements, and details were well in hand for commenc-J ing the thirteenth year of the classes foj^ Bible reading in State schools.
