On the stiength of his triple victory in the two-year-old events at the iSJoith Shore (Takapuna J.C. summer meeting), Master Soult is considered to have some say in the result of the Northern Champagne Stakes, to be run at Ellerslie on April 20. The son of Soult was certainly responsible for performances above the average, and already must have more than repaid his owner (Mrs Coombe) for the 200gs at which he was knocked down to he', bid in May of 1907. Clearly the Auckland Trotting Club authotrities are determined to thoroughly sift the allegations of questionable running on the part of certain of the ponies competing in the Grand Stend Handicap decided at the club's recent slimmer meeting.
