February 10. A parcel of National Bank shares sold to-day at £5 6s. RECORD CUSTOMS RETURNS. AUCKLA.Nxj February 10. The sum of £11,068 4s 7d was taken locally In Customs revenue to-day, constituting a arecord for the port of Auckland. The beer duty collected was £276 9s, and £300 was received from poll tax on three Chinese. OTAGO MUTUAL STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY. The fourth annuai report of the directors for the year ended December 31 says — *' The total loans granted amount to £18,100, and are secured by 61 mortgages. The profit and loss account has been increased by £550 10s 2a. and now stands at 1674 Is 3d. There have, been 754 members, representing 2255 shares, who have joined the society. Of these, 225 shares, held by 83 members, representing £323 17s, have been forfeited; 115 shares, held by 37 members, representing £865 19s. have been withdrawn ; leaving 1915 shares, held by 634 members, representing £15.842 14s, as present members. During the year a considerab'e number of shares have been allotted to fill up the gap caused by withdrawal and forfeiture, but no additional shares can be added to the membership after the present year. The society's full working membership is 2000 shares- Messrs Thos. Scott and J. H. Wilkinson are the IP-Mring directors. The directors regret that Mr A. C. Birt, who was appointed auditor at the last annual meeting, had to resign owing to ill-health. Mr J. T- Hamnan was appointed to fill his place. Both the auditors —Messrs Hugh Mitchell, F.N-ZAA.. and J T. Hamann— also retire. All being ehgib'e offer themselves for re-election.
