WARE PA.

February B—The8 — The weather has been very dry. There has been a succession of gales, with little or no rain, and everything looks parched. This district had its full share of the gales which Taged on Monday night, January 27, and the following Wednesday. Although accustomed to wind, I must say that the gusts on those two nights broke the record. The creeks and springs are almost all dry, andi some farmers are at their wits' end to find watei for their stock. Last Friday there were a few showers of welcome ram, and at the time of writing the glass is pretty low, and appearances point to a. change in the weather.

Farm "Work. — Harvesting is general, the grass-seed harvest being just finished, and the oat harvest well on the way. The autumn-sown oats are nearly all in the stack. Grass-seed threshing is proceeding, and as far as it has gone, the yields have been veiy dia, ppointmg, owing to the high Winds. Early-Eown turnips are Doming on well, but late> sown are badly m want of ram.

General — Socially, everything is very quiet. The Show Committee decided not to hold a summer show this year as they have not been a financial success ; but they intend to hold a winter show as usual, and they hope to make it is- great a success a3 it has been in the past. Mr D. Murray and family, late of "Glenfalloch," have now taken up their residence at Balclutha, and already their loss has been felt in the district, as they were always willing to assist financially and otherwise in everything that took place. At the service on Sunday the sacrament was dispensed, and the individual cups were used, the change seeming to be greatly appreciated.
