THE SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP. WANGANUI, February 6. Webb an Tressider, who are to row for the sculling championship of the world on the Wangaaui River on February 25, are training 6teadriy. There is nothing of a specially interesting nature to report, save to cay that both men are thoroughly satisfying their respective trainers. Interest in the race for the sculling championship between Webb and Tresidder, which takes place to-morrow fortnight, lie daily growing, and the training operations are watched by large crowds. Both men have been doing a lot of solid work, iind are very fit. The supporters of both are confident, though the New Zealander finds most favour. The final deposit of £gDO each is due next ISaturday. and a cable has been received Btating that Tresidder's money has been posted. Webb left to-day for Kaiwhaike, eight miles up the river, where the race is to be rowed. Tresidder follows to-day or tomorrow, and both men finish training on the championship course. Complete arrangements are being- made for ctfffVeying up the river the big crowds that axe expected. Neilaon, the noted sculletr and boatis coming ever from Australia. There is some talk of getting 1 up a •weepatj&ka handicap for a few days after the championship.
