THE REV. DR. GIBB.
TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION. (Fbom Oub Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, February 7. The office-bearers of St. John's Church entertained the Rev. Dr Gibb last evening on the occasion, of the twenty-fifth anniversary of hi 6 ordination. Dr Gibb intends visiting the Old Land in company with his wife. The parishioners attended in large numbers to do honour to their minister, and the meeting was a very enthusiastic / one. Dr Gibb replied to a, number of congratulatory speeches eulogising his work and •bis interest in public questions that make for the righteousness of the Dominion. He warmly thanked his people for their kindhesa in granting him the furlough. He said he did not think he was in absolute physical need of a holiday, though of late he had felt a little tired and overdriven. His usual five weeks' holiday would probably have set him up again, but contact ■with other men's minds and the benefits of new environment were as important as physical rest. He spoke of the great assistance he received from his wife, and stated that whatever good he had done was largely due to her inspiration. Into his' task at St. John's he had put every ounce of strength thet God had given him, and he wished to express thanks for the assistance he had received from his officeibearers and from hie congregation. To all his thanks were due for their ?reat kindness and gracious gift. He had loved his congregation from his first connection with it.
