LABOUR CONFERENCE.
POLITICAL PLATFORM ADOPTED.
WELLINGTON, February 6. The repiescntati-ves of 40 labout and trades unions, two branches of the Socialist party, the Single Tax League, the Political Labour League, the Fabian Society, and the Trades- and Labour Council met in conference last night.
A long discussion took place, and it was ultimately decided that the policy should be " the nationalisation of the means of production, distribution, and exchange."
It was also resolved — "That the committee take united action to secure the return of candidates pledged to form a distinct Labour union in Parliament, and to abstain from identifying themselves with either the Government or Opposition parties." It ha 6 already been decided that candidates must pledge themselves to support the committee's platform, and, if elected, to hand in their resignation if they depart from their planks while in Parliament.
